Finding the Hero in Your Husband

by Dr Julianna Slattery
My current book.  Required reading for ALL women!  You will LOVE it.  I'll be posting my favorite quote of the day from it.  Just a little teaser so ya'all will rush out and buy it.  After buying it, STUDY it and use it.  You'll not regret it...

Every wife will experience hurt, failure and disappointment.  This presents her with a decision.  Will she use her God-given power to help her husband grow into effective and godly leadership?  Or will she stage a coup d'etat, afraid to trust God's design and the potential for growth in both of them?...

...Scripture clearly teaches that God has called the husband to be the head of the household and the wife to respect and support his leadership.  By refusing to follow God's plan, the coup d'etat is not only against her husband, but also against God's plan.  What we should really be asking is not, "Can I trust my husband?"  but "Can I trust my God and His plan for our family?"

Ultimately it is not a prince on a white horse who will rescue a woman from her pain, depression and anxiety.  It is a loving God who is the Savior.  He knows the needs that He has created with each woman.  Only He holds the key to meeting her deepest needs for intimacy, security and worth.  He may choose to meet many of those needs through her husband.  The Lord will meet the needs of those who seek Him.  He will reward the righteousness of a woman who depends upon Him.

The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down. Proverbs 14:1, NIV
Holy smokes!  That's a big slap in the face to me.  I have so much to learn.

This sounds like a great book! I'm going to look for it.

You posted a comment on my blog that I just wanted to respond to. I made that post on a rainy day when I was bored and mildly depressed. I mentioned getting our second dog and not having enough time for them. My husband owns a dog training business. He LOVES dogs. I've put off getting dogs our whole marriage, and now that we are homeownders I no longer have an excuse. :o) Plus, it's kind of weird for a dog trainer to not own any dogs. The dogs make him really happy, and he spends time with them. They come inside in the evening when he's home from work, and usually sleep in our room. (Which I hate, but I love my husband and he knows what's best for the dogs.) I take them on a 20-30 minutes walk, then play with them for another 15-20 minutes most days. And the kids play with them, too. We are only breeding puppies for profit, not to keep. I most definately could not handle that.

I just wanted to let you know that I'm trying to be a responsible dog owner. It's true that were it not for my husband, we wouldn't have dogs. But we do, and I love my husband and my kids, who all love the dogs. And they really are good dogs.
